DESIGN FEATURES
Economy Industrial offers patented and proprietary state-of-the-art design features on
its casting machines to improve yield and reduce both operating and maintenance
costs.
1. Economy's patented process-design establishes design parameters to maintain mould
steady-state peak temperatures below the critical range where graphite grain growth in the
moulds leads to early failure.
2. Economy's Improved Roller Chain design reduces stress on the moulds from thermal
expansion and contraction, and from chain misalignment. The design allows for rapid
mould changing, which can reduce the time spend by two-thirds.
3. Economy's proprietary automatic control system reduces operating manpower and
takes the human variable out of many machine functions. Sensors, coupled with the
PLC control system, interlock the operation of the mould cooling sprays, mould coating
system, and ladle tilter or torpedo ladle car tilt operation.
4. Economy's proprietary mould coating system provides uniform coating of the
casting machine moulds, and is self-purging and flushing to eliminate problems of mould
coating system malfunctions.
5. The inclusion of high-tech control devices has not supplanted the need to build
rugged, reliable equipment, which will withstand the operating conditions of hot metal
plants. Many of Economy Industrial's casting machines are operating in plants where
the entire output of a furnace or ore-body must be cast into pigs before shipment.
