FerroAlloy Casting Machines (See photos at bottom)
Patented process control technology developed in the
1980's led to the supply of ferroalloy casting machines for such diverse products as
ferronickel, ferrosilicon, ferroaluminum, and magnesium ferrosilicon. The same
technology permits the economical casting of silicon metal, ferromanganese and
silicomanganese.
By developing process design parameters to control the peak steady-state temperature of
the casting machine moulds (See charts), Economy Industrial
offers ferroalloy producers the opportunity to automatically cast metal with higher
strength, less segregation, and smaller grain size than with conventional techniques.
Higher strength with smaller grain sizes normally reduces fines generation dramatically.
Experience in the past with Union Carbide Metals and Pgh. Metallurgical Co., and more
recent successful installations at Galt Alloys (USA), Falconbridge Nickel (Dominican
Republic), Cerro Matoso (Colombia), and Bjoelvefossen a/s (Norway) have proven the
benefits of the technology.
