Stainless Steel Casting Machine for Re-melt Ingots
Supplied to IC Vtormet, in Moscow, Russia
AMBRIDGE, PA,
October 24, 2009 Industrial Corporation Vtormet is one
of The Russian Federation's leading recycling companies. Its activities
span many grades of non-ferrous metal, and they wished to expand into
stainless steel recycling.
The recycled ingots would be sold to Induction Furnace
remelt foundries, who could rely on the alloy certification in the
master alloy ingots supplied by IC Vtormet.
After searching the world for a reliable supplier, the
firm selected Economy Industrial because of its past experience in
building machines to cast stainless steel alloys. The master alloy
producer purchases stainless scrap for melting, then carefully adjusts
the analysis of the metal by adding any required alloys to bring it up
to specification. The final alloy is then cast into ingots to be sold as
a certified alloy, of known analysis.
The remelt foundries rely on the alloy's
certification, and can produce parts for end users with confidence that
the alloy grade has been certified.
The machine was supplied
with Economy Industrial's proprietary automatic control
system, which controls the mould wash, water cooling, exhaust system and
burner operation. A steam hood complete with an automated exhaust fan
system was
incorporated into the machine's design.
Alloy steel casting machines have been
provided to many master alloy producers in the USA, as well as to the
Puget Sound Naval Shipyard, in Bremerton, WA. At Puget Sound Shipyard,
the armor plate ingots were cast from metal from scrapped submarine
hulls, which were dismantled in accordance the the US-Russia disarmament
treaty.
