Ingot Casting Machine Operation
1) Metal is poured from a ladle or furnace into the pouring launder of the casting machine.
2) The metal flows out of a spout into the mould cavities and allowed to air-cool.
3) As the filled moulds travel up the incline they then water- cooled.
4) As the moulds pass around the head sprockets, they invert, allowing the pigs to fall by gravity into the discharge chute, assisted by mould rapper hammers.
5) As the empty moulds return to the pouring end, they are coated with a mould wash solution.
6) The coated moulds pass over a drying burner to remove any remaining moisture in the mould coating.
The moulds then pass around the tail sprocket to be refilled with metal.
